This Thomas Edison Bridge is a mighty construction, built in 1931 to unite the areas either side of the Caloosahatchee River. US-41 and Alternate US-41 roads now reap the benefits of the bridge, which was opened on Edison's 84th birthday.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Burroughs home in downtown Fort Myers dates back to 1901, when it was built to provide a home for the famous Burroughs family. The Burroughs Family Home now serves as both a venue for events, such as conferences and dinners, and also as a tourist center where visitors can receive guided tours giving the history of the family.

Built in 1915, the Old Lee County Courthouse is one of the region's oldest and most historical constructions and landmarks. In 1989 this important Fort Myers building underwent extensive reconstruction work and was essentially returned to its original state, and five years later it was the scene of the movie 'Just Cause', starring Sean Connery. The courthouse remains an important center for many judicial functions. Guided tours are available of both the buildings and the grounds in which it resides.
